To mark its 30th anniversary, the Frauenmuseum Berlin presents the exhibition *On Her Way*, curated by Almut Hüfler. The title is based on a quote by Arundhati Roy and envisions a possible, female-centered future as a hopeful counterpoint to current crises. The exhibition focuses both on the individual artistic developments of the participating artists and on the process of collective growth.
The exhibition unfolds across six thematic chapters: It begins with contemporary analyses of media and nature, moves through heterotopias, cartographic strategies, and questions of the self and the other, and leads to an examination of history and memory. Additional spaces are dedicated to the structuring of reality in dreams, architecture, and everyday forms, as well as the “in-between” of virtual and inner worlds. Finally, the focus turns to the future, growth, and transformation.
As a kind of feast, inspired by the ancient symposium, the 28 artists present their pressing themes in the form of an edible or inedible, hard-to-digest or healing, delicate or intoxicating “conversation piece” on an interactive table sculpture. At the closing event, this collaborative work will be activated, and visitors are invited to participate in the dialogue.
